THE STORYTELLING BOX IMPROVES SOCIAL AND COGNITIVE SKILLS IN AUTISTIC CHILDREN
As every parent knows, children suffering from autism deal with impaired communication and social interaction.
The Storytelling Box offers a new way to communicate with your child.
Andrew shared his experience with us.
Andrew, a 6-year old with Asperger’s Syndrome, loves playing with The Storytelling Box.
His mother, Jama, who also has Asperger’s, said that Andrew was only focused on a few things; trucks, trains and Machines. Very little else piqued his interest.
Jama told us that since receiving The Storytelling Box, Andrew’s world has opened wide! He now imagines Kings, Fairies, Castles, Dragons and more.
Great job, Andrew!
ACTUAL E-MAIL FROM ANDREW’S MOM, JAMA:
Mark,
Well we’ve played with the box several times and Andrew and I love it! The two things that I love right off the bat is that a) it helps me be creative when I’m exhausted as a mom and 2) it helps us get Andrew to expand his special interests. Part of Asperger’s is that he is, most of the time, exclusively focused on trucks, trains and other machines, which are his special areas of interest. Well, the box helps him think “outside that box” and he is incorporating potions, witches, shadows, superheroes, feelings, etc.
Thanks,
Jama
